Gary Silverthorn – All Classes

 

Gary will be supplying all necessary supplies for all classes. 

 

He did NOT request this, but Diane would like to suggest – please don’t feel obligated though! - that you bring in $3 - $5 to help cover the supply expenses for him.  Gary is doing this to make it easier on the students, however, this is ultimately taking away from his instructor fee…. J

 

 

3-D Brushed Embroidery – Michaelle Stidham cwpc

 

Supply List

 (You may already have a lot of these supplies in your gumpaste kit)

 


1 plastic place mat

Paper towels

2-3 pastry bags & couplers & tips # 1, #2, #3, #4

2 cups royal icing & small cups for making colors

Small scissors 

Gum paste tool set

Clay gun if you have one

Palette knife and bent spatula

Small palette tray for colors

Small amount of clear liquor for painting

1 fan paint brush if you have one.

1 small flat paint brush (¼” -3/8” wide)

Box to carry everything

Paper & pencil (for notes) & Your Smile!


 

Make in advance and bring to class:

 

  • Use 2 – 9” or 10” round cardboards together for thickness. Cover with white fondant and bring to class in a cake box 2” or taller.
  • Make & let dry the following petals:

1.       8-12 pale green leaves (3/4” - 2” in size any kind)

2.      10-12 pale pink or peach rose petals (thinned and slightly curved)

3.      12-16  white dogwood petals or 1” hearts (thinned and slightly curved)

 

 

3-d Gift Bag – Carol Lowe

 

Supply List

 

Instructor will furnish 6” square dummy cake.

Please bring the following items:

12” round cake cardboard covered with foil

Small angled spatula

Small amount of clear piping gel

1/3 cup white Crisco in small covered container

Fondant  (2 pounds) in color of your choice

            Sm amounts contrasting colors for trim & embellishments

¼ pound white

24” square medium weight vinyl  (Roll, do not fold, this vinyl!)

Large rolling pin

Pizza cutter

Fondant smoothers

Small scissors

Palette knife

Cornstarch “puff  (1/4 C cornstarch knotted in the toe of a NEW nylon knee-high stocking)

Small artist’s paintbrush

Vinyl place mat (smooth surface)

Ruler

Turntable

Paper towels

Plastic wrap

12” box to take your class project home.

 

You will also need a paper pattern – cut this out of a paper grocery sack.

This pattern must be a rectangle measuring 7” by 20”.

 

Optional items – bring them if you have them:

Pasta roller (machine)

Small cutters in any shape you choose (flowers, animals, letters, etc……)

Clay gun

 

 

Art of Patchwork Cutters – Diane Simmons

 

Supply List

 

6” round dummy – pre-iced in buttercream/royal/fondant (you will NOT have time to do this in class!)

-          you may also create your project on a foil covered board, or fondant covered board if you like…

small rolling pin (6” long like use for gumpaste work)

small container Crisco

pwd sugar duster (in nylon, etc... or small container of pwd sugar)

artists brushes

petal dusts (few colors… yellow, red, green – basic flower colors…)

smooth cutting board, or smooth vinyl placemat

palette knife (this is an artist’s tool in the paint section of Michael’s/JoAnn’s – thinner than an icing spatula)

Australian & S. African Stringwork – Diane Simmons

Instructor will furnish most supplies needed for use during class.

 

6” round dummy – pre-iced in rolled fondant (you will NOT have time to do this in class!) – attached to a 12” board covered in decorative foil (any color is fine…)

-          the closer to class you can do this the better (if you need to do it a few days before, cover in plastic wrap to keep the fondant soft.)

Instructor will furnish the gumpaste and wires for this class.  You will need to bring:

Vinyl place mat (smooth surface)

Small paintbrush for gluing

1/3 C white shortening in covered container

palette knife (from an artist’s supply store)

6”x8” cardboard covered with wax paper

block of green florist’s foam

Maple leaf, oak leaf, bittersweet, FMM veining mats set #1 (limited cutters will be available for sharing in class)

Petal dusts, or artist’s chalks: red, brown, yellow, orange, dk green, any shades of rust or copper

Several soft make-up style brushes for dusting (one for each color dust)

- These can be covered together so it looks like a hat if desired.
